Logging in to UNC Apps

There is a variety of software available at UNC and some require different ways to log in

  • Single Sign-On: For software using the Single Sign-On page, use your Onyen and Password.
  • Microsoft 365: Microsoft 365 software such as Office Online, Outlook/HeelMail, and Copilot use your Microsoft 365 ID as a username (also referred to as an Entra ID orUser Principal Name) in the format onyen@ad.unc.edu.
  • Login Portals for UNC: Some software will either have a login portal specific to UNC or a SSO or Single Sign-On button where you’ll have to specify the UNC login.
  • Other Software: There may be some software required for classes that will require you to make a personal account. Read the directions provided by your instructor carefully to ensure your account is created properly, and that you are able to log in properly. If not specified by your instructor, we recommend using your university e-mail address as a user account for any software used for coursework, so that any account recovery issues can be handled through your university e-mail.
